This week saw the CIPR and PRCA lift the lid of some of the PR trades darkest secrets.
The CIPR’s annual State of the Profession survey was published on Tuesday this week. We reported here on PR Hub about the fact that salaries for PRs in the region were the lowest nationally. Further insight from the report has also highlighted the embarrassing and unacceptable statistic that women, who make up two thirds of PR practitioners in the UK, are paid on average £8,483 less than their male counterparts.
Yesterday, the bad news continued with a report by PR Week and the PRCA, which identified that a third of PR people have experienced mental ill health. More worrying perhaps than the statistic itself was the revelation that a majority would not feel comfortable talking to their boss about it.
There is an excellent write-up about the results on PR Week and we urge everyone to take some time to read it.
Hopefully the outlook will be more positive next week.
